My name should be changed to Bernadette U. Chimah, Esq. in the title. Underneath the title, it should read, Managing Attorney/Owner

Bernadette is the managing attorney/owner of ChimahLaw, LLC. She was born and raised in Washington, D.C., but originally hails from Nigeria and is deeply committed to providing legal services to her community. She is a graduate of George Mason University located in Fairfax, VA where she obtained a B.S. in Finance. Throughout her college career,  she worked throughout different segments of the federal government. She eventually decided to move forward with her dreams of becoming a lawyer and attend law school. She is a graduate of Southern University Law Center in Baton Rouge, LA where she was involved in various sections of the legal community within her school.

 

Bernadette’s commitment to serving her community with effective legal representation is demonstrated by her passion to provide competent representation to all. She has worked in alliance with many local agencies and non-profit organizations with community outreach initiatives such as the Montgomery County Bar Association Legal Clinic, Community Legal Services of Prince George’s County and Maryland Volunteer Legal Services to name a few. She also is a dedicated member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated.

 

Her work experience includes, but not limited to, working in several positions within the federal government, as well as working in a non-profit organization providing support to the federal government. She practices in the areas of civil litigation, criminal defense, family law, traffic law and personal injury. She finally opened ChimahLaw, LLC in 2015 with the goal of providing experience, respect and results to individuals who seek effective and efficient legal assistance with legal problems.

 

In her spare time, Bernadette loves to volunteer in the community and spend time with loved ones and is a proud member of several organizations in Washington, D.C. and Maryland.
